WHO WE ARE:

In 2012, a group of men with servant hearts began working with The Brothers in Blue Prison Ministry at Lansing, KS, to minister to inmates in the Kansas prison system. We  partnered with the Kansas Department of Corrections’ new offender mentoring program, Mentoring4Success (M4S), and are now one of their leading organizations statewide. We are trained and certified by the M4S team, and given support with inmate matching, regular training and communication.

We now have over 30 men and women serving as mentors to inmates nearing release into the community.

We also work with parolees that need support in the community in the forms of housing, transportation, training, and job placement.

If you feel that you'd like to contribute by becoming a mentor, or supporting our ministry, contact us at

In Kansas, it's a fact- 4700 people are released from prison each year, and at least half need help with housing, jobs, family, and other issues. Kansas has reduced parolee returns to prison by half. Mentoring can reduce this even further.

What makes a good mentor? A man or woman willing to work with an offender before and after release for one year who:

  • Is not judgmental, is positive, nurturing, honest, and consistent.

  • Maintains confidences and professional boundaries.

  • Focuses on growth and success.

  • Is willing to be accountable to a lead organization.

  • Has a genuine concern for people in prison, their families, and victims.

  • Is supportive and encouraging without creating a dependent relationship.

  • Asks for help when confronted with situations beyond his or her knowledge, resources, or expertise.

  • Is free from drugs/alcohol addiction.
